About the Familiarisation Tour
DBA’s familiarisation tours aim to provide an opportunity for a real-life experience of the processes and environment of travelling to and from Mt Buller and
navigating around the Village during the snow season.
These tours seek to help make the journey and visit a bit more predictable, accessible and enjoyable for individuals (incl. their support person) or families living with disabilities.
The tours are run during the months of May and early June (before commencement of the declared snow season). These are often a quieter period on the mountain.
What is included in the tour (up to approx. 120mins)
- Arrival and Guest greeting at Mansfield, Mirimbah or on-mountain carpark options;
- Orientation to vehicle (inside and outside), boarding and finding your seat;
- Driving the road to and up the mountain and into the Mt Buller Village – how long, what to see, what does it feel like, where can we stop;
- Drive to your accommodation door, disembarking and re-boarding for your return home
- Drive tour around the Mt Buller Village and stopping at key points for your visit or Village features to support improve accessibility
- Drive down the mountain road and returning to your parked vehicle.
These familiarisation tours also provide an opportunity for our DBA team to learn more about the potential barriers and develop more tailored options for our guests to improve their travel experience when the snow arrives!
The DBA team are supported by their local knowledge of the mountain and how it operates in the snow season, Hidden Disabilities Sunflower membership and resources as well as regular disability training with Disability Awareness and Typsy Training.
Please register your interest to book a tour by indicating your preferred commencement time/date.
A team member will then contact you to further discuss your accessibility needs, time available and tailor a familiarisation tour for you or your family member.
